100 Things That Make Me Happy — Update

I started on a list of 100 Things That Make Me Happy back in January this year, and I haven’t updated it since. But I still haven’t reached 100 points, so here are some more! :)

    • Seeing my friends, especially my best friend smile!
    • Getting small things just for fun, even though I don’t really need it.
      Makkuro-Kurosuke
    • Munching on chocolate!
    • Taking a nap.
    • Daydreaming
    • When it gets colder outside, wrapping myself in a blanket.
    • Giving something back, like recycling clothes I don’t use any more.
    • Getting a massage.
    • People-watching.
    • Sitting next to someone, and not feeling I have to say anything at all.
    • Meeting new people.
    • Smelling the fall air, when it’s slightly cold.
    • Looking up at the stars.

      Traditions

Every Sunday usually is family Sunday. It’s been been that way for as long as I remember. Every Sunday, we would all go to my now late grandmother’s place for dinner and coffee. When I was a kid, I thought it was boring because I couldn’t be a part of any of the discussions, and then when I got a little older, I just skipped family Sunday all together to hang out with my friends instead. But who could blame me, I was a kid, and hanging out with the old family wasn’t exactly “cool” then.

Then when I got older, I saw the value of seeing my family often. Especially since my grandmother passed away not long after I turned 20. Luckily I did get to spend some more time with her.

      Photo of my family

An old photo of my (from the left) older aunt, late grandmother, late grandfather and my dad.

My younger cousin is the same way. He would come along when he was younger, but now that he’s 14, he’d rather sit in front of his computer and play violent games than sit with his family.

And it’s a shame, since my family is very small. On my father’s side, we’re only 6 people left. And on my mother’s side, whom I rarely see, we’re only 4 including myself, and an uncle I am actually not sure if is alive any more.

But even though the family left on my father’s side is small, we still get together every Sunday.

When you’re a kid, your family can be the most uncool thing in the world, but as you get older, you see the strength you have in your family.

What are some of your family traditions?

      A Bit Of A Stretch

The other day I went to my first physical therapy appointment because my neck wasn’t all right. The muscles were tight and just wouldn’t let go. So I thought I would try out some physical therapy, to see how it was and to get my neck muscles to relax.

A painting that was hanging in the physical therapy office.

The therapist was really kind and good at her work! At my first session I laid for almost 45 minutes on the massage table whilst she squeezed what felt like small balls in my neck. It was really weird, haha.

I came back two days later for a check-up, and luckily the muscles had relaxed and I felt much better.

I’m always avoiding going to the doctor, and I only go when I feel nothing else will work and I need the professional help. Also because going to the doctor here in Norway is super expensive, and a lot of doctors don’t really listen to you, just prescribe something to you and almost toss you out of their office.

Have you been to a physical therapist? How was it?

      Bye Bye Vox

Vox is officially closing on September 30th, and that’s a bit sad since I started blogging regularly on Vox. My first post on Vox was January 8th, 2007. I had done some blogging on Livejournal before that, but I got “serious” about it on Vox.

If you have a blog on Vox, and would like to move all of your posts to your current WordPress blog, you can read about how to do that here. One of the fun aspects of Vox was the neighbourhood ability. You could add people to your neighbourhood, and you would see their posts easily, almost like in an RSS reader, only it was right there in Vox.

I also enjoyed the Question of the Day feature they had. So if you were stumped on what to write, you could take a moment to answer the QotD, and you could easily search for what other’s had answered as well.

So since Vox is closing down, I’ve moved all of my older posts from Vox to WordPress. And if you were subscribed to my blog, and got a million e-mails about my blog being updated, I am sorry for spamming you!

I am going through my older Vox posts and removing some and cleaning them up a little since not all of the media were easily brought over. There’s probably going to a lot of broken links as well on my Vox posts, but I am going through that as well!

Where and how did you start blogging?

      Japan 2010 — Tokyo — Shibuya

      Shibuya 渋谷

One of my favourite places ended up being Shibuya, which is a trendy location where all the “cool kids hang”.

      Shibuya

You also have the famous intersection in Shibuya, where a LOT of people cross when it’s green. And when crossing here you have to be set on your course, otherwise you’ll get trampled over

      Video uploaded by: NYPTravel

In Shibuya you have a big shopping department called Shibuya 109, or for short “maru kyuu”, where you can shop to you drop! When we were in Tokyo there was a MASSIVE insane 5 day bargain sale, where prices were down 30-70%! We of course went, and found some neat stuff. I tried my best to be smart, and not spend too much money there since the trip in itself was going to be expensive, but the girls that I travelled with dropped a lot of cash there :P

Shibuya 109 is aimed for the ladies, but just down the street there’s another shopping department, just for men. I can’t remember the name of it (we never went there… lol), but it’s something with 10.. 102?

So if you’re ever in Shibuya, be sure to check those out!

We usually stopped by Shibuya at nighttime to grab a cup of coffee and just watch people walking by. Lot of awesome fashion walking past you.

      Some more photos from Shibuya:

      Do you like people-watching?
