Public Irks!

One of the things that really irks me is the public transportation in Oslo. Like this morning. It’s been bus instead of the metro on several stations on the line I take because they’re renovating and upgrading the tracks. Today was the first day it was supposed to be operational again.

I check the system for the departure schedule, and I am met with this message: Due to a power outage, the stretch Ryen-bergkrystallen-Ryen is not operated.

And I happen to board the train on that stretch.

What is up with that?!

And nothing was written about whether or not the travel guarantee was eligible or not.

There’s a travel guarantee system that if you’re going to be more than 20 minutes late because of an unannounced stop in the system, you can take a taxi and get a refund up to 500NOK by filling out a form.

We pay quite a lot for the public transportation here, so you’d expect a system that works!

At the moment I’m on my way to work, on the metro, but it looks like they’re only running on one track, back and forth.

It’ll be interesting to see how long it will take me to get to work, something that normally only  takes me about 10 minutes of commute.

What are your irks about public transportation where you are?

UPDATE: I’m now at work, but it took me like 30 minutes, just on the metro :S And as I wrote above, it usually only takes around 10 minutes…

Time to get crackin’ on today’s work pile! *makes a BIG cup of coffee!*

My only irk is that it closes so early! I love our system here, but 10-12 at night is too early to start closing the lines!

It’s the same here. I think the last train up to where I live, leaves 00:15 or something.

We do have these nightly buses, but I think the one that goes up to where I live doesn’t start until 2:30am :P

So the gap between the last train, and the first night bus is too big :/
