I haven’t been good at my blogging lately, have I? Shame on me…

To summarize since the last entry:

The company trip to Norefjell went well! It was a lot of fun, crazy fun, but still fun, and we got a lot out of it as well, as far as how the company wants to head into the future.

On Friday I won for the first time in the wine lottery! Woho! Every other Friday or so we have a wine lottery at work. I don’t buy a lot of tickets, just some to participate. And to my surprise, I won a bottle on Friday!

And sadly, yesterday or around yesterday my website (not this one, another one) was hacked All of a sudden I couldn’t log into my own forum, and that scared me a little because I am the super administrator on that account :S Long story short, my site was hacked, and my super admin account was set to non-registered, rendering me unable to log in! And all the other admin accounts were also shifted to other random user groups. And some of my users have also been messed with. Sigh. WHY do people do these things? Especially to smaller websites who don’t make a difference :S So now I have a lot of work cleaning up after this mess. My hosting company sadly took a backup of my site yesterday, after the hack, meaning that the backup is useless because it has the corruption in it. Sigh.

Other than being hacked, I’ve had a good weekend so far! Met up with some friends of mine from Japanese class yesterday, and it was a blast! All of us together haven’t seen each other in over 6 months! And even so, it was like we had just seen each other last week, the chemistry was the same!

Have a good Sunday everyone!

Tomorrow will be the beginning of my first company trip, woho! This is going to be exciting! The entire company will spend Thursday to Saturday in Norefjell (a winter sports location about 2 hours from Oslo) at the boss’ cabin. It’ll be a mix of a social gathering, and of course also some work-related activities such as workshops and such.

So I have a busy evening in front of me because of things getting a little backlogged! First, right after work I am meeting a lady from the recruitment office that got me this job and having dinner with her. Then I might be meeting Warunee for a quick coffee as she’s leaving for Thailand tomorrow (Lucky bastard!!)! And then when I get home, I need to do some final laundry, hang that up, find stuff that I need for the cabin trip and pack that down, and eat some and hopefully sleep some as well Phew!

But, the trip will be fun, and it’ll be fun to see my colleague’s outside the work environment, as well as meet the team that’s working in Bergen!

What are your weekend plans?

Not too long ago I (finally!!) got a job as a web developer in a small company in Oslo. Most of the first day was spent setting up the system, with logins to servers, mail accounts etc. As the computer is “mine”, I was told I could install whatever I wanted. So of course I personalized the desktop wallpaper a bit (see the photo on the left). Then I did a little reading into ASP.NET, which I’ve had in my first year of college, but I didn’t learn too much back then because of mostly a bad teacher, and the rest being me not being very interested in the subject at that time. I have come to realise now however that a lot of web companies work in ASP.NET (amongst other things), and that I probably should learn to use it to some degree. I also saw that a lot of job advertisements required knowledge in ASP.NET.

Day two and three were spent working on bug fixes in CSS and HTML on a layout for a client. At first it took me quite some time understanding the system, how they work, how they code, how they organize files and etc. Once I gained a little more insight into that I began working my way through the bug list. And now after a day and a half, I finally managed to work them all out! Phew! A couple of times I thought my “mad” HTML skills had vapourated or something, because I couldn’t find the source of the problem, and as so not being able to fix it!

But I’m really happy with this job! The people I work with are super nice and they follow up on me nicely. Not too much, and not too little either. And they encourage me to ask questions, and lots of them, hehe. Which is good, because in the beginnings there’s bound to be a lot of questions!

But it’s definitely time to hit the books and read up on various subjects

Now it’s the weekend, and it’s time for some R&R! Going to catch up on the blogs I follow and do some commenting, as well as catching up on some TV series, meeting friends and some much needed housework!

What’s your weekend plans?
