Traditional Japanese Children’s Stories

If anyone is interested in practising their Japanese reading skills, check out this site:

They have translated some stories from Japanese into English. You can read line by line, first in Japanese then a translation in English.

There's not a lot of kanji either, but if there are any, they're often written in hiragana in parentheses.

むかし ある ところ に、
Long ago in some place,

こころ の やさしい おじいさん と おばあさん が、 すんで いました。
there lived an old man and old woman with gentle hearts.

ある日(ひ) の こと です。
It happened one day.

おばあさん が 川(かわ) で せんたく を して いる と、
When the old woman was washing clothes in the river,
